I hosted a Stampin' Up! party today for myself and 5 of my card making friends. I thought I would share my creations for the day based on the cards the demonstrator walked us through. Our demonstrator Louise is so creative with their products, we made fun and vibrant cards today using card from the brights collection. 

We made two cards both little thank you notes and we got to use my favourite punch the bird punch!! I couldn't resist ordering it today, I can't wait for my new things to arrive..so excited!

The first is an easel card, I love the effect we did with the ribbon which was sooo simple, just a strip of double sided sticky and you just create little loops with the ribbon as you move along the sticky strip. It brings a little extra and a different way of using ribbon.

This is the second card we made using the bird punch, simple but so pretty.

And on a little side project I got my new Cardmaking magazine yesterday and had to have a go at the iris folding card so I decided to make this for my mum...just because she is so lovely!

Its the first time I have ever participated in such a thing...okay so its Friday but I have been busy!

I used card, stamp and punches from Stampin up! Card in Baja Breeze, certainly celery and whisper white. The stamp is from the Oval All set. Punches in oval and scalloped oval. Papers from Papermania Summer Bloom collection. Ribbon from my remnants box.

This weeks Friday Feast!

Friday night is always a special night in our house we always treat ourselves to a nice meal...made from scratch of course. The meal usually consists of food items that aren't necessarily on the cheap side or aren't all that good for you but since I am on a healthy eating plan at the moment they fall more into the category of been expensive items.

So tonight's feast is a Nigella recipe Party Poussin's and Cous Cous or pous pous and cous cous as we call it in our house. Its so easy to make and absolutely delicious whilst its cooking it gives me change to fit in a spot of housework. Now I know some people may not agree with eating Poussin's but I love them. So here is how it goes - Serves 2 - 10mins prep/45mins cooking:

Poussin's:
1. Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6
2. Take 2 Poussin's rub with a little olive oil and place in a baking tray.
3. Take a lemon and cut into small portions and tuck into the Poussin and place the rest in the tray, take a whole bulb of garlic and break apart leaving the skins on again tuck into the crevices and scatter the rest in the tray.
4. Make a spice mix using - 1.1/2tsp salt, 1/2tsp paprika, 1/2tsp ground cinnamon pinch of sugar, then sprinkle over the Poussin's
5. Place in the oven and roast for 45-50mins or until the juices run clear.

Cous Cous:
1. Take a bowl and put in 150-200g of cous cous, 50g sultanas, 1/4tsp cinnamon, 1/2tsp paprika, 1/2tsp cumin, 1/2tsp coriander, 1tsp salt and crumble in 1 chicken stock cube.
2. Pour over 3/4pint of boiling water, stir well then cover with cling film and leave to rest for 10-15mins.
3. Remove the cling film and separate with a fork, chop a handful of coriander and mix in.
Optional addition (but not to my taste): bash out the seeds of half a pomegranate and sprinkle over.

Once the Poussin's are ready serve with the cous cous and enjoy! Sometimes we have it with a bit of crusty bread, the roasted garlic is nice spread on it.

Eeek! My First Blog!!!

So I've never done this before but was inspired by my good friend Naomi to start my own. Hopefully you will enjoy reading my blog finding out what I have been up to and looking some of the things I create whether its craft or culinary.
I love to cook get all my skills from my wonderful mum. My earliest memory is of my mum baking bread and putting it in front of the fire to rise. Cooking has always been a passion of mine and I love to entertain guests and find new recipes to try. I will be sure to post some pics of my latest dishes and tell you about some of my favourite recipes.
I also like to make jewellery although I haven't turned my hand to that in a while.... my favourite bead shop has closed! 
My latest craft is card making after attending and then hosting a Stampin Up! party I was hooked, since then and much to the disgust of the bank manager I have been building up a stock of supplies.
